Egypt News — Revolution and Aftermath

http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/international/countriesandterritories/egypt/index.html?scp=1-spot&sq=egypt&st=cse WHO: Egypt WHERE: Egypt WHEN: March 21, 2011 WHAT: After math HOW: Egypt had many protesters that wanted someone to drop down from his position and they got what they wanted, but now face a couple of problems.WHY: Clearly because the protester didnt like the way he was running egypt so they protested.

Egypt's freedom is far from won

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/mar/18/egypt-revolution-tahrir-square-resistance WHO: Egypt WHEN:18 March 2011 WHAT:Ragy el-Kashef's torture lasted six hours. He was beaten, whipped and electrically stunned while lying face down on the pavement. That is very sad and disturbing HOW: they used a whip and they just left him there to die WHERE: Egypt WHY:But Ragy's torture was carried out after Mubarak's departure, a stone's throw from the square where Egyptians came together to re-imagine something different and dream up a new society. His torturers were the foot-soldiers of those tasked with overseeing the country's "transition" to democracy; they took the chants of the revolution and twisted them into words of abuse, leaving lattice-webs of bloody welts on Egyptian backsides before holding 10-minute kangaroo court hearings in secret to find their captives guilty. MANN I WOULD HATE TO BE HIM!!!!!!!!

Al Qaeda's Odd Silence on Egypt

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2011-02-06/al-qaedas-strange-silence-on-egypt/# WHO: Al Qaeda WHEN:Feb 6 2011 WHAT: Al Qaeda is being very quite. WHERE: Egypt HOW: He isn't opening his mouth WHY:Al Qaeda’s number two, Ayman Zawahiri, who has spent his life fighting Hosni Mubarak and calling for a revolution in his homeland, has yet to comment in public on the momentous events in his native land.  His silence is probably temporary. But it shows al Qaeda’s top leadership is under significant pressure in Pakistan today from the American counter-terrorism offensive ordered by President Obama two years ago. Oh NO! Not more drama.

Why is America so afraid?

http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2011/01/29/weiss_egypt_scared WHAT:   The Egyptian revolution threatens an American-imposed order of Arabophobia and false choices WHEN:

Egypt's tumult, day-by-day

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/africa/02/06/egypt.protests.timeline/index.html WHO:  Mohamed ElBaradei  and police WHEN: Jan 26 - Feb 6 WHERE: Egypt  WHAT: police use tear gas and water guns to stop the protesters. HOW: by using the water guns and tear gas. I think it is sad  that the police would actually use water guns to stop all of those protesters. Looks like somebody needs to get fired..

Egypt's opposition Muslim Brotherhood to hold talks with government

http://www.chinapost.com.tw/international/africa/2011/02/07/290225/Egypts-opposition.htm WHO: The Muslim Brotherhood WHERE: Egypt WHAT: Egypt's largest opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood, said it would begin talks Sunday with the government to try to end the country's political crisis but made clear it would insist on the immediate ouster of longtime authoritarian President Hosni Mubarak.WHEN:  February 7 2011HOW:The decision by the fundamentalist Brotherhood, which has been outlawed since 1954, comes as Egypt's leadership seeks to defuse mass demonstrations — now in their 13th day — by proposing reforms but stopping short of the protesters' key demand that Mubarak step down

SEMINAR

http://egypt.alive.in/  WHO: Gamal Al-Ghitani  WHAT: notes from seminar WHEN: 25th of January 2011 WHERE: Egypt HOW: the notes were written by Gamal to the ambassador of France WHY: they needed to discuss and have meetings about all of the protesters. In some of the notes they include that teenagers were actually involved. They were the ones that started all the protesting battles. It is pretty hard to believe. This shows that teenagers can really make a difference.
